Bra Size Calculator
Shopping for the right size bra can sometimes be a guessing game, but it doesn't need to be. The right size bra will not only ensure that your clothes fit and look right, it will also be important for your body comfort and long term posture. Researchers have found that many women choose the wrong size bra, usually one that's too loose and cups that are too small. Our Bra Size Calculator has been created to help you understand the sizing system and get a great approximation of what size bra you should look for.
You will need a soft measuring tape, and two measurements – a snug underbust and an overbust while standing. Your band size is measured under your bust (right below the bra band). Ensure the tape is parallel to the ground and tighten it up. The overbust measurement (taken at the fullest part of your chest) determines your cup size. These two measurements are what make up your cup letter. In this calculator, we use a traditional US/UK sizing system as widely used in the lingerie industry.
Our calculator will give you an extremely close estimate of the fit, but some differences between breast shape and various brands can cause variations. When shopping from a new brand, it is always advisable to shop around for a few neighbor sizes (also known as "sister sizes"). Talk about making shopping a better endeavor and purchasing some underwear that will look after you.
Key Points About Bra Sizing
- The Band Supports: The band needs to contribute 80% of the support. If it's going up your back, it's not snug enough.
- Sister Sizes: If you go down a band size, you need to go up a cup size to keep the same volume (e.g., 34C is the same cup volume as a 32D).
- Gore Tacking: The center part of the bra between the cups, the gore, should be flat against your chest bone (Sternum).
- Measure Without Padding: These measurements are taken without padding or the best fitting unlined bra for the most accurate size.
